Air Manta

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"There is something extraordinary about seeing a manta ray move through the open ocean. Its enormous wings seem almost effortless, as though it is flying rather than swimming.

In Air Manta, I wanted the viewer directly in its path. There is no reef, no ocean floor and nowhere else for the eye to go. The manta emerges from the blue with its Cobia companions beneath it, commanding the space through presence rather than aggression.

The vastness surrounding it is intentional. It reminds us that beneath the surface exists a world with its own relationships, rhythms and journeys—most of which we will never witness.

Air Manta is about grace, scale, and the quiet majesty of an encounter few of us will ever experience."
